Naracoorte Lucindale Council installs defibrillators
The Naracoorte Town Hall and Naracoorte Swimming Lake were chosen due to their high levels of visitation. The Naracoorte Town Hall also has the advantage of being located in the Central Business District. When the Naracoorte Town Hall is open the defibrillator can be accessed by members of the public as well as people utilising the Hall.
One of the benefits of having defibrillators in a central and / or public location is that they can be accessed and used even by someone with no medical training. The defibrillator using step-by-step voice commands will guide you through the process of treating a victim of suspected sudden cardiac arrest.
“The defibrillators have been installed as a result of requests from the community when Council developed its 2018/2019 budget and with the hope that they could save lives” Mayor Vickery OAM said.
Other locations that Council is aware of that have defibrillators are the Lucindale Area School, Naracoorte Hotel, Naracoorte Golf Club, Naracoorte Mens Shed, Naracoorte Smallbore Rifle Club and OTR Naracoorte. The Naracoorte Health Service has a portable defibrillator that can be borrowed for large events and functions.
